Every goal Man United have conceded from set-pieces under Ruben Amorim amid 'can't cry' admission

Manchester United have faced scrutiny in recent weeks for their defending of set-pieces after they conceded six goals from dead ball scenarios in seven matches.

Two of those were scored directly from corners, although they both prompted protests towards the referee for opposition players interfering with the goalkeeper. Speaking after United's most recent defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Ruben Amorim refused to be drawn on claiming for fouls but instead insisted they need to learn and do the same thing.

"You can do everything inside the box and that is the rules," the Portuguese coach said. "So we can't cry about it, we have to do the same. We have to focus on doing the same to the opponent and that is my goal at the moment.

"If set-pieces have become so important, you can do everything, so we have to learn it and do the same thing. Even with the small guys. We just have to copy and do the same thing, not change try to change the rules, just use the rules to also score from a set-piece."

With that being said, MEN Sport have looked at each of the set-piece goals United have conceded under Amorim so far. One concern is that they have conceded more than one in a single game twice, so it's certainly an element of their defensive game the manager will need to fix sooner rather than later.

The Premier League defeat against Arsenal was the start of United's set-piece struggles under Amorim. Early in the second half at the Emirates on December 4, Declan Rice swung in a corner towards the near post and Jurrien Timber rose the highest to flick a header beyond Andre Onana.

Arsenal have become renowned for their ability to capitalise on set-pieces. Since the start of the 2023/24 campaign, they have scored more than 20 goals
