Everton 'would be foolish' to keep £25m star at Goodison Park

Everton ‘would be foolish’ to offer a new Goodison Park contract to Allan and the defensive midfielder is expected to seal his departure in the summer, according to Daily Star journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Allan made the move to Merseyside after a deal worth up to £25million was struck with Italian giants Napoli in September 2020, but there are question marks over whether he will still be on the club’s books by the time the summer transfer window slams shut.

Allan is set to enter the final 12 months of his Everton contract, which is worth £120,000-per-week, at the end of the season.

It means that, unless the Toffees tie the 10-cap Brazil international down to fresh terms, the summer could represent one of the Merseysiders’ final opportunities to cash-in.

But contract negotiations do not appear to be in the offing because Everton will reportedly let Allan leave when the transfer window reopens as he does not feature heavily in boss Frank Lampard’s plans.

According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, a switch to Lazio is a distinct possibility as the Serie A side’s boss, Maurizio Sarri, wants to be reunited with the 31-year-old.

Allan has not been selected by any other manager more over the course of his career, having featured under Sarri on 132 occasions.
