Everton warn Newcastle off Gordon after initial contact
Newcastle have made initial contact with Everton about Anthony Gordon, but the Merseyside club do not want to sell.
Newcastle are looking to add a wide midfielder to their squad this summer and have identified Gordon as a target.
Sky Sports News has been told Newcastle did not make a bid, rather it was more of a tentative enquiry as they weigh up their options.
Everton, though, are determined to keep the 21-year-old, making it very unlikely that a deal for Gordon could progress.
Reports suggest a figure of £35m was discussed for the England U21 international, who scored four goals last season.
Newcastle have other targets in that area, including Bayer Leverkusen's Moussa Diaby.
Tottenham were interested in making a double signing from Everton involving Gordon and Richarlison, eventually settling for the £60m purchase of the Brazilian as the Toffees resisted their advances.
