Everton to prepare revised bid for Burnley forward Maxwel Cornet
Everton are making a revised bid for Burnley winger Maxwel Cornet after their loan offer was rebuffed.
Director of football Kevin Thelwell had skipped the club's US tour to accelerate transfer activity and Cornet was not in the squad for Burnley's friendly against Shrewsbury on Thursday.
But Burnley rejected Everton's opening offer, and a permanent deal may now be more likely.
The 25-year-old is a target Everton have discussed since May to replace Richarlison, who left for £60million to join Spurs earlier this month.
Frank Lampard is a big admirer of the Ivory Coast international, and wants more bodies in to try and avoid a repeat of last season's relegation battle.
Cornet has scored nine goals in 28 games for Burnley since joining from Lyon last summer for just shy of £13million and is said to be happy to leave Turf Moor after Burnley's relegation.
Meanwhile, Toffees defender Jarrad Branthwaite has joined PSV Eindhoven on loan.
The 20-year-old had previously been linked with a move to the Championship but will spend the year in Holland as PSV look to pip Ajax to the Eredivise title after missing out by just two points last season.
