Everton to make Lewis Warrington decision after impressive summer and Frank Lampard message

Frank Lampard will wait until the closing stages of the transfer window before he considers whether to allow talented starlet Lewis Warrington to leave on loan.

The teenager has featured prominently throughout pre-season, travelling with the squad to the US and playing in all four of the club's friendlies. Praised by Lampard as a "great lad", his experience included the full second half against Arsenal in Baltimore.

The midfielder is one of several academy prospects on the verge of first team involvement and Lampard said decisions on whether those players will be allowed to leave on loan will likely be made near the end of the transfer window. He added he would have "no qualms" should Warrington be one of those he needs to rely upon after the 19-year-old impressed him on and off the pitch this summer.

Boyhood Blue Warrington enjoyed a productive loan stint at Tranmere Rovers in the second half of last season. He made 17 appearances for the League Two side, scoring his first senior goal against Harrogate Town. He signed a two year deal with Everton earlier this summer and is well thought-of at Finch Farm. Warrington, along with fellow Under-21 star Stanley Mills, featured in every Everton friendly during pre-season. The pair, as well as Reece Welch, earned minutes against Dynamo Kyiv on Friday then showcased their desire to develop by playing for the U21s against Southport on Saturday.

Lampard has suggested Mills and Welch could remain at Everton this season rather than being allowed out on loan.
