Everton: 'Strange and disappointing' claim emerges involving £40m Goodison star

It has been a “strange” and “disappointing” start to Dele Alli‘s Everton career, says journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 25-year-old was once again named as a substitute in the Toffees’ 2-1 loss to West Ham over the weekend, meaning he is yet to start a game since joining the club.

Having struggled to make much of an impact at Everton, Alli is already being linked with a move away from Goodison Park.

According to TEAMtalk, the Merseyside outfit are ready to move on the attacking midfielder to avoid paying Tottenham a transfer fee.

Alli joined Everton in January in a £40m deal, but Spurs receiving that fee or any amount of money in general is dependent on their former star playing a certain amount of games at his new club.

The Athletic, however, claims that the Englishman is still seen as part of Everton’s long-term plans, so the above may be a bit premature.

O’Rourke has told GIVEMESPORT that Alli’s start to life as an Everton player has been both strange and disappointing.

Speaking to GMS, the transfer insider said: “It’s been a strange, disappointing start to his career at Everton for Dele Alli. We all thought this might be the chance for him to resurrect his career and get back to what he was a couple of seasons ago, but it hasn’t worked out for him so far.”
