Everton: Number of points needed to escape relegation revealed

Everton will need at least nine points from their final six games to stay in the Premier League, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The Toffees have been an ever-present in the Premier League since its inception in 1992, but they are in significant danger of being relegated this term.

Heading into the final weeks of the season, it looks like Norwich and Watford are already doomed as they find themselves 10 and nine points adrift of safety, respectively.

The final relegation spot is far from decided, though. Everton currently occupy 18th place, having only won three league games since the turn of the year.

They are two points behind Burnley, although they have a game in hand on the Clarets, while Leeds are five points above the bottom three.

Frank Lampard’s side have six matches to get themselves out of trouble. Ahead of the final run-in, Brown believes the Merseyside club may need as many as 10 points from these fixtures to survive.

When asked about a potential points tally that could keep Everton up, Brown told GIVEMESPORT: “I think they’re going to need nine or 10 more, at least. Looking at the table, 38/39 might be enough. Because, can Watford and Burnley win enough games to get above that, get enough points to get above that? That’s the big question.

“Leeds have 34 at the moment, so they would only need four or five points to get above that total. But, I think for two teams to get above you on that would be unlikely. So, that might be enough.”
