Everton FC fans ‘appalled’ by homophobic comments in response to team's new kit

Everton FC fans have spoken out after the team's social media accounts were recently flooded with homophobic comments.

Taking to Twitter and Instagram, the Premier League football team revealed their 2022/23 hummel away kit, which happened to be in the colour pink. The kit pays tribute to Prince Rupert’s Tower “with a modern twist,” according to the Everton FC website.

Social media trolls responded to the new kit, by insinuating the colour, which is seen as a feminine colour by society, would define a player's sexuality. Rainbow Toffees, an LGBTQ+ fan group for Everton FC, spoke out against the comments.

Paul Hession, the Rainbow Toffee’s event manager for eight years now, told the ECHO : “Pink is just a colour and so is blue. It’s part of our history. I really don’t know what all the fuss is about. I’ve recently seen the homophobic comments
