Everton: 'Fans will be furious' over 'massive risk' at Goodison Park

Everton supporters will be “furious” if Anthony Gordon leaves Goodison Park before the transfer window closes, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

Frank Lampard has already seen Richarlison sign for Tottenham and Phillips reckons that Gordon departing could leave the Goodison Park faithful even more annoyed.

Despite the 21-year-old still being relatively new to Premier League football, Gordon has already attracted attention from several top-flight clubs.

Tottenham and Newcastle were both interested in his services back in June, although Everton insisted that he wasn’t for sale.

Chelsea have since entered the race and recently saw a £40m-£45m bid rejected for Gordon, with the Toffees valuing the highly-rated youngster at more than £50m.

But Everton appear to be facing an uphill battle to keep him after the forward recently expressed his desire to leave.

According to The Telegraph, Gordon wants to sign for Chelsea and is hoping they will make an improved offer for his services, while the report claims the Merseysiders are concerned that the England Under-21 star could get his head turned by the London club.

Should that happen and Gordon is allowed to make the switch to Stamford Bridge, Phillips reckons that it could cause uproar with Everton supporters.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s a massive risk and I believe that Everton fans will be furious about that because they’ve sold their talisman in Richarlison and now it looks like they’re going to sell a fans’ favourite in Gordon.”

Not only is Gordon a popular figure with the Goodison Park faithful and a product of their academy, but he’s already established himself as a key part of their attack.
