Everton could now 'try and sell' £28.5m star at Goodison Park

Everton central defender Yerry Mina’s days at Goodison Park may be numbered as the Toffees could look to cash-in on his services ahead of the transfer deadline, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The Merseyside outfit have got the new campaign off to a worrying start, having suffered back-to-back defeats to Chelsea and Aston Villa, but there is still time for boss Frank Lampard to freshen up his squad.

Mina is currently on the sidelines after sustaining an ankle ligament injury on the opening day of the season, resulting in him having to see a specialist before undergoing treatment at Finch Farm.

It comes after the Colombian also missed 17 games through hamstring and thigh problems last term and, in total, injuries have led to him being unavailable for more than 40 fixtures since joining in a £28.5million deal from Barcelona four years ago.

Everton are reportedly hopeful that Mina will return to contention in October, but he may have already made his final appearance for the club.

That is because, according to Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, the Toffees have officially put the 27-year-old on the market and are seeking a fee in the region of £12.6million.

Mario Mauri, Mina’s former agent, has told Italian news website L’Interista – via TEAMtalk – that his ex-client would be open to swapping the Premier League for Serie A.

Brown believes Everton are open to sanctioning Mina’s departure before the summer transfer window slams shut.

The journalist is not expecting the Toffees to offer the 39-cap Colombia international a new contract, leading to further uncertainty over his long-term future.
