Everton 'blowing competition out the water' for England star at Goodison Park

Everton are offering James Tarkowski a lucrative deal to join them this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Tarkowski was recently relegated with Burnley, but looks set to earn himself a move to stay in the Premier League.

The 29-year-old is out of contract at Turf Moor next month, so it looks likely to be a race to secure his signature.

According to The Telegraph, Aston Villa and Everton are both keen on signing the centre-back, and it could come down to the wages that they offer him. Newcastle have also shown an interest in the 6 foot 1 defender, as reported by The Mirror.

Everton are hopeful of edging out their rivals, and have reportedly offered Tarkowski a £90,000-a-week deal to try to tempt him to Goodison Park.

Jones has claimed Everton have put the most eye-catching offer on the table for Tarkowski, and he thinks this could lead to them landing the England international.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones said: “It sounds to me like Everton are blowing other sides out of the water in order to sign Tarkowski. They are offering about 20 grand a week more to him than anyone else is. That’s a bold move but one that looks like it might pay off.”

Everton looking to bring in a centre-back is hardly a surprise given their problems in defence this season.

The side conceded 66 Premier League goals – only four teams in the division shipped more. The likes of Michael Keane, Mason Holgate and Ben Godfrey struggled to prove that they were up to the task, whereas Yerry Mina battled with a number of fitness issues.
