Everton: 55-goal Benitez signing 'has no future' at Goodison Park

Everton’s decision to make Anwar El Ghazi’s loan move from Aston Villa permanent would come as a huge surprise as he is not believed to have a long-term future at Goodison Park, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

El Ghazi made the move to Merseyside just before the midway point of the January transfer window, but the switch has not gone to plan for the winger.

Following the completion of his loan to Everton, El Ghazi insisted he wanted to show his ‘quality’ to the Goodison Park faithful and ‘I can always score a goal in an important moment’.

However, he has not been given the opportunity to do that as he has only been offered 11 minutes of action, over the course of two substitute appearances, since heading north-west from the Midlands.

El Ghazi was brought in by Rafa Benitez, who admitted the winger’s ‘desire’ to join Everton proved crucial in negotiations.

However, just a matter of days after his arrival on Merseyside, El Ghazi was made to contend with the sacking of Benitez only six-and-a-half months after being appointed as the Toffees’ boss.

The Spaniard was replaced in the Goodison Park dugout by Frank Lampard, who clearly does not have faith in the 26-year-old due to his lack of outings.

Brown believes El Ghazi’s time at Everton will prove to be brief, with him expected to head back to parent club Aston Villa at the end of his loan agreement.

The journalist told GIVEMESPORT: “I can’t see that he has a future at the club at all.

“He’s hardly played. He wasn’t really playing under Benitez and he hasn’t really played at all under Lampard either.

“It would be very surprising if they decided to make that one permanent.”
