Everton: £40m ace ‘clearly’ isn’t impressing Lampard in training
Everton midfielder Dele Alli ‘clearly isn’t showing on the training pitch’ that he can help transform the club’s fortunes, according to journalist Dean Jones.
The 25-year-old joined the Toffees from Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window in a deal that could rise to £40 million, but he’s so far struggled to make an impact at his new side.
Dele started the opening five Premier League games of Tottenham’s season under the tutelage of former manager Nuno Espirito Santo as he looked to get his career back on track.
However, he was hauled off at half-time in the 3-1 defeat to north London rivals Arsenal on 26 September and failed to return to the starting lineup in the league until 19 December.
That was the first of just three occasions on which Dele featured from the off in the top-flight during Antonio Conte’s reign, meaning his winter switch to Everton came as little surprise.
But the move to Merseyside has failed to spark a turnaround in performances from the 37-cap England international.

Dele is yet to start for Everton and amassed just 169 minutes of action across his six appearances before being left on the bench during their 1-0 victory over Newcastle United prior to the international break.
With no goals or assists for the Goodison Park outfit, Lampard’s decision to leave the creative talent out of his side appears to be justified if concerning from the player’s perspective.
In his previous role at Chelsea, Lampard received much credit for extracting the best out of talented youngsters such as Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham and Reece James.
Yet the 43-year-old tactician has been unable to have the same effect
