Eurovision 2024 France entry: Mon Amour lyrics, who is Slimane, and odds to win

Representing France at this year's Eurovision is singer-songwriter Slimane.

The 34-year-old will be performing his track Mon Amour when he takes to the Malmö Arena stage on Saturday May 11. The 68th Eurovision Song Contest is being held in Sweden after Loreen won last year's contest with her song Tattoo.

France's odds of winning the contest were 12/1 ahead of the show, according to Ladbrokes. France, like the UK, has won Eurovision five times - and no doubt Slimane is hoping to make it six this year.

Slimane, whose full name is Slimane Nebchi, started his career in the piano bars of the Pigalle, the area of Paris that’s home to the famous Moulin Rouge. He is of Algerian heritage, with his grandparents moving to the French capital.

Slimane is no stranger to televised competitions, having been propelled to fame after winning The Voice France in 2016. He had previously appeared on talent shows Nouvelle Star, France's edition of the X Factor, Encore une chance and Je veux signer chez AZ.

The pop and R&B singer has sold more than two million albums. His most recent LP, Chroniques d'un Cupidon, was released in 2022 and hit number one in three countries including, of course, France.

The star has also cinched five NRJ Music Awards and a prestigious Victorie de la Musique - France's equivalent to a Brit award. Slimane wrote the lyrics of Mon Amour and co-composed the song with friends Yaacov and Meir Salah, with whom he has been making music with since the age of 15.
