Eurovision 2023 semi-final 1 song running order and countries taking part on Tuesday night

The first Eurovision Song Contest 2023 semi-final will be taking place tonight as 15 acts strive to land a place in the grand final.

It marks the first time the UK has hosted an international song contest since 1998. The UK offered to host the event after it was revealed Ukraine was unable to due to the ongoing conflict with Russia.

Tonight will be the first of two semi-finals taking place, with both being hosted by Julia Sanina, Hannah Waddingham and Alesha Dixon, with Rylan and Scott Mills taking on commentating duties. The first semi-final taking place tonight will air live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

A total of 15 countries will take to the stage in a bid to wow the audience of millions who will be watching across Europe. The public will then get their chance to vote on which 10 should go through to the final.

A second semi-final, featuring 16 countries, will then take place on Thursday night, where another 10 countries will make it through. The grand final will then take place on Saturday from 8pm.
