European wrap: Parrott strikes again for AZ Alkmaar
Troy Parrott's excellent campaign at AZ Alkmaar continued as the Dubliner netted his 16th goal of the campaign in a 2-0 win against PEC Zwolle on Sunday.
The 23-year-old has been reinvigorated by his move to the Eredivisie from Tottenham last summer. He got the second goal for AZ to wrap up the points, after David Moller Wolfe broke the deadlock with a fine long-range strike. Republic of Ireland Under-21 defender Anselmo Garcia MacNulty played the full 90 at centre-half for Zwolle.
Ireland's Andrew Omobamidele had a fine game at the heart of the Strasbourg defence in their 2-0 victory against Montpellier in Ligue 1. Goals from Emanuel Emegha and Sebastien Nanasi settled it as Strasbourg moved up to ninth.
Republic of Ireland Under-19 international Ike Orazi came off the bench to make his debut for Stade de Reims though it was a tough one to come into - Lyon ran out comfortable 4-0 winners. Orazi moved to France from Shamrock Rovers in September 2023.
On-loan Southampton goalkeepr Gavin Bazunu also endured a difficult day at the office, conceding four in Standard Liege's 4-2 loss to Westerlo in the Belgian Pro League.
In Spain, Fermin Lopez scored a crucial goal and received a red card in less than 20 minutes on the pitch as Barcelona beat Sevilla 4-1 to keep the pressure on La Liga's top two.
The sides were level at half-time after Robert Lewandowski's 19th goal of the season was swiftly nullified by Ruben Vargas, leaving Hansi Flick to summon Fermin from the bench at the break.
He headed the visitors back into the lead barely a minute after coming on, but was sent off in the 62nd minute when he lunged dangerously at Djibril Sow with studs showing.
By then Raphinha's skilful 20-yard strike had already given Barcelona a two-goal
