Europa Conference League wrap: Gianluca Scamacca fires West Ham past Anderlecht, Djurgardens win at Gent

Gianluca Scamacca climbed off the bench to give West Ham a 1-0 win at Anderlecht and put them in firm control of Group B in the Europa Conference League.

The Italian scored with a clinical finish to make it three wins from three matches of the third-tier competition for the Londoners and effectively put one foot in the knockout stages.

It needed the £35 million signing to do the damage nine minutes after coming on, but the Hammers could have had it wrapped up long before that in Belgium.

David Moyes' side wasted a host of chances, with Said Benrahma guilty of several glaring misses, but they got the job done and return to London unscathed ahead of Sunday's derby with Fulham.

Elsewhere, Shamrock Rovers' Group F rivals Djurgardens earned a 1-0 win at Gent to go top of the standings.

The Swedish side, who had been the lowest ranked team in the group below Stephen Bradley's Hoops when the draw was made, won in Belgium via a first-half Marcus Danielson goal in Belgium to move onto seven points.

Shamrock Rovers' 3-0 defeat at Molde earlier on Thursday night means the Dublin side are bottom of the group and three points adrift of the Norwegians and Gent.

Hearts' hopes of progressing in the competition suffered a damaging blow as they were outclassed by Fiorentina at Tynecastle.

The Scottish Premiership side trailed 2-0 at the break and then had teenager Lewis Neilson sent off early in the second half as they crashed to a chastening 3-0 loss in a one-sided encounter.

The result saw Fiorentina leapfrog Hearts to move into second place in Group A. The Edinburgh outfit travel to Florence for the rematch next week knowing they will almost certainly have to avoid defeat to have any chance of qualifying for the knockout phase.
