Euro Paper Talk: Man Utd to take leaf out of Liverpool book with £34m star in Ten Hag mould; Gavi release clause jumps

Manchester United are tipped to sign a former Premier League ace for £34million, while Gavi’s release clause at Barcelona jumps to three figures – both in all the latest Euro Paper Talk.

Manchester United have been tipped to snap up Porto midfielder Vitinha for his £34million release clause this summer.

The Red Devils have, in recent weeks, put all of their focus on a deal for Frenkie de Jong to bolster their midfield. There is a chance Barcelona could sell the Dutchman, who has instead said he wants to stay at Camp Nou.

As a result, United are continuing to look at other targets to help new manager Erik ten Hag begin his tenure.

According to Record, Man Utd have now locked onto a deal for Porto midfielder Vitinha, who the newspaper claims fits Ten Hag’s style.

The report adds that a Premier League club will activate the €40million exit clause for the 22-year-old, naming United as the club most interested in him.

Meanwhile, O Jogo claim that super-agent Jorge Mendes mentioned Vitinha to Man Utd in a transfer meeting last week.

Vitinha developed in Porto’s academy before Wolves took a punt on him in the 2020/21 campaign. He played 23 times for the Molineux club, including 19 Premier League appearances.

However, he remained a bit-part player for his time in the West Midlands and Wolves did not use their €20million (£17million) option to buy.

Back at Porto last season, though, he made 30 league appearances and directly contributed to nine goals in all competitions.

He plays mostly in the centre of midfield, but often played a more attacking role under Nuno Espirito Santo at Wolves. Vitinha is also emerging on the international stage. He has three Portugal caps to his name after making his debut in March.
