Ethan Laird handed fresh Bournemouth blow after Manchester United's January transfer decision

Manchester United's Ethan Laird was left out of Bournemouth's matchday squad again this weekend.

Laird has played just 40 minutes since joining Bournemouth on loan in January. Laird had originally started the season on loan at Swansea, but United made the decision to recall him from that spell in Wales to send him back out to Bournemouth.

That decision has proved to be disastrous. Laird was highly regarded at Swansea and he played in every possible game for the Championship club this season - Laird made a total of 20 appearances - before his loan move was cancelled by United.

Bournemouth's chief executive claimed he 'couldn't be happier' following the confirmation of Laird's signing in January, but manager Scott Parker hasn't used Laird as United would have hoped. Laird has regularly failed to make Bournemouth's squad.

Laird has been injured this season, he sustained a thigh problem with Swansea back in December and suffered a small setback after joining Bournemouth, but his recent omissions are believed to largely be down to conditioning levels.

"It's physical, really," Parker said last month when asked about Laird.

"He has been out for a long, long time. And you probably don't really get a real gauge on that until you get into the game."

Laird has had just 40 minutes of game time at Bournemouth.
