Ethan Galbraith pinpoints potential benefit after leaving Man Utd

Ethan Galbraith hopes that leaving Manchester United to try and get regular game time at new club Leyton Orient will help to boost his chances of playing for Northern Ireland again.

The 22-year-old left United earlier this summer upon the expiry of his contract at Old Trafford. He joined United's academy from Linfield in 2017 and he signed his first professional contract with the club the following year.

Galbraith made his United first team debut in November 2019, stepping off the bench as a late substitute in a 2-1 Europa League defeat to FC Astana. However, that proved to be his sole appearance for the Reds in his time at the club.

Galbraith has spent the past two seasons away from Old Trafford picking up experience at Doncaster Rovers and most recently at Salford City. He has now signed for the O's, who won promotion from League Two last season and are preparing for life back in the third tier of English football.

Galbraith links back up with former United man Richie Wellens who is boss of the London club. He played under Wellens during his time on loan at Doncaster.

The midfielder has two Northern Ireland caps to his name so far, his debut coming in 2019 against Luxembourg in a friendly. He hopes getting regular minutes for Leyton Orient will catch Michael O'Neill's attention in the future when selecting squads.
