Eros Grezda opens up on Rangers spell as he hails Steven Gerrard as 'the best coach I've ever worked with'

Forgotten man Eros Grezda says it was "wonderful" to play for Rangers - but he regrets never featuring in a derby against Celtic.

The Albanian winger was signed from Osijek as one of Steven Gerrard 's first additions back in 2018.

He had a promising start with his finest hour coming as he fired in a brace in a 7-1 victory over Motherwell.

Injury soon derailed his Ibrox spell however and after an off-the-ball incident where he was accused of spitting on a Ballymena United player while in action for Rangers Colts, Gerrard confirmed he had played his final game for the club just a year after he signed.

In January 2020 he was shipped back to Osijek and joined HNK Sibenik last month.

And the 26-year-old has reflected on his short-lived stint at Ibrox, saying it was a "wonderful" experience despite the way it ended.

He told his new club's media: "It was wonderful for me in Rangers, a great club, fans, tradition.

"I unfortunately didn’t play the famous Old Firm derby due to injury, and I didn’t compete once. But these are really special matches, the atmosphere that prevails before the derby, in everything."

And he only had kind words to say about Gerrard who he has tipped to one day replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

He went on: "Steven Gerrard? Legend, the best coach I've ever worked with. He lives for football, he completely surrenders to it. I see him for sure as the future coach of Liverpool, I hope as the successor of Jurgen Klopp."
