Erling Haaland trolled and four more moments missed as Man City defeat Yokohama Marinos
Manchester City have got their pre-season off to a winning start after beating Yokohama Marinos 5-3 in Tokyo.
It was far from an easy game against a much fitter side midway through their own league season and the hosts went two goals up after taking advantage of sloppy City defending. John Stones and Julian Alvarez levelled the scores with quickfire strikes.
Erling Haaland then put City ahead mere minutes after coming on at the break before Rodri repeated his Champions League final exploits with a great goal from distance. A miscommunication between Rico Lewis and Stefan Ortega opened the door for Yokohama to pull one back but Haaland nudged home his second to restore the lead in the final seconds.

The surprise starter
It's impossible to say if James McAtee was a surprise starter in the Japan National Stadium, but the stadium screens didn’t even have a picture of him ready to put on when it went through the team news. They didn’t have them for Joao Cancelo or Oscar Bobb either. McAtee was given a big chance starting in his preferred midfield role but struggled to make an impact and was fortunate not to get booked.
Bobb came on for the second 45 and applied himself much better. He operated on the right flank and impressed with quick feet, good deliveries and link-up play with Bernardo Silva and Cancelo. The full-back played his first City game since January following his spell at Bayern Munich and looked sharp as he set up the final goal.
