Erling Haaland seen in Manchester City shirt as Stones injury hands Guardiola headache

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola may have been given a headache by John Stones’ early return. The defender bowed out of the England camp yesterday after pulling up with tightness while the Three Lions were warming up for their friendly with Switzerland on Saturday.

He’s returned to Manchester to be fully assessed as Guardiola sweats over what to do when City come up against Burnley in four days’ time. Ruben Dias is still working his way back from a hamstring injury so Nathan Ake may be called upon to make his eighth Premier League start.

MEN Senior Manchester City Writer Simon Bajkowski says the Stones situation complicates plans for Guardiola, who has one eye on the clash with Liverpool on April 10. He may be left with just two fit centre-backs going into an April that contains at least eight intense fixtures.

A video has re-emerged of Erling Haaland wearing a Manchester City shirt with Mario Balotelli’s name on the back as a youngster. The then 11-year-old is seen showcasing his skills in the footage, which was shot in 2012.

City are frontrunners in the race for the attacker, who has netted 80 goals in 82 games for Borussia Dortmund. Real Madrid are also interested in the 21-year-old, who even at an early age - if the video is anything to go by - showed signs of having star talent.
