Erling Haaland's verdict on Carlos Borges goal shows why Man City winger is worth £14m
Erling Haaland smiled when watching one of Carlos Borges' goals from a prolific season, asking: "Is that Carlos? I've been training a lot with these guys. Carlos is good."
For the same feature, where City got their top scorers across the men's, women's under-21 and under-18 teams to assess each other's goals, Borges spoke of his admiration for Haaland. "It would be a dream come true," he said of playing in the same team as Haaland.
The Portugal under-19 international may not get the chance to live that dream, though, as West Ham chase a permanent £14m deal for Borges.
With no senior experience to his name, such a fee for a teenager could be described as extravagant. Considering the potential of Borges, paired with his lofty personal ambitions, it could prove to be a bargain.

For a start, the statistics speak for themselves. 29 goals and 18 assists for the under-21s last season earned him the Premier League 2 Player of the Season award. He contributed a goal or assist every 55 minutes from the left-wing, striking up an impressive wing partnership with Dire Mebude on the right (who only got 14 goals and 15 assists in 34 outings).
"He's got a lot of celebrations lined up," said Justin Oboavwoduo, the under-18 top scorer. "He knows he's going to score during the game anyway."
It's clear that the PL2 is no longer a challenge for Borges, so a step up to first team football is the logical next step. Previous City players making that step have been Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Tommy Doyle, James McAtee and Liam Delap - with all playing in the Championship, and three winning promotion last term.
