Erling Haaland hungry for more Man City trophies after SPOTY awards

Erling Haaland is looking for a repeat of Manchester City's history-making season after picking up another individual award.

Having been named the Premier League Player of the Season and FWA Footballer of the Year while finishing runner-up in the Ballon d'Or for scoring an astonishing 52 goals in his first campaign in English football, City's No.9 has been given another honour at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards. While currently away in Saudi Arabia for the Club World Cup, Haaland sent a video message after being recognised as the World Sport Star of the Year.

Haaland beat off a host of sporting greats to win that prize, but he and his team have work to do if they are to attempt to match the incredible heights of last season as City became just the second English team - after United in 1999 - to complete The Treble. Despite struggling for results in the Premier League lately, the 23-year-old used his acceptance speech to hammer home the dreams and ambitions for this season.

“This is another huge honour for me and I am very proud to have been named the BBC World Sport Star of the Year. I am especially grateful to have been voted ahead of an incredible group of athletes who are all legends in their individual sports," he said.
