And it's not just idle speculation in the transfer rumour mill, those with the ear to the ground, at least from a Barca perspective, have joined the push to bring Haaland to the Camp Nou.

Lluis Carrasco, Barca president Joan Laporta's former campaign manager, claims Haaland's dad - former player Alfe Inge - wants his son to sign for his old club Man City.

But the problem for Haaland Snr, Carrasco insists, is that the Dortmund star wants to join Barca.

Carrasco wrote on Twitter: "Haaland's father, a former citizen player, prefers City, it is true, they are twice as important as Barça.

"But he has a problem: Barça want their son, not him, and the son prefers to play and live in Barcelona. We are not as far away
