Erling Haaland's penalty against Chelsea before the international break meant he has now scored against 19 of the 21 teams he has played against in the Premier League. On Saturday he can move a step closer to perfection with a goal against Liverpool.
Manchester City's striker failed to find the net at Anfield last season and then was injured for the return meeting, which City won 4-1. A goal against Liverpool will mean Brentford is the only team he has played against that he hasn't scored against.
Home advantage
City's victory over Liverpool in April was one of 23 that they have recorded at the Etihad in the calendar year, an astonishing run that will equal the benchmark set by Sunderland in 1892 if the Blues are able to win on Saturday. Much is rightly made of how difficult it is for City to win at Anfield but Liverpool really struggle to win at the Etihad and have struggled particularly in the Pep Guardiola era.
City's title success last season was built on beating each of the Big Six at home and they will need a similarly strong performance this time after a couple of defeats on their travels. Wins against Liverpool and Tottenham over the next nine days will take some of the pressure off what looks to be a tricky away tie at Aston Villa after that.
