Erik ten Hag told '£300m' transfer pledge will see Cristiano Ronaldo stay at Manchester United

Former Premier League striker Dion Dublin believes it is unlikely Cristiano Ronaldo will be at Manchester United next season unless Erik ten Hag makes a "£300million" transfer pledge.

The 37-year-old has faced a number of doubts throughout the season but continues to perform well in the Premier League, racking up 24 goals in all competitions ahead of Saturday's trip to Brighton. Ronaldo has a further year on the contract signed last summer.

Ahead of Ten Hag's arrival at Old Trafford at the end of the season, Ronaldo's future has again been questioned. And for Dublin, only a huge commitment from the club will stop the Portuguese great moving elsewhere.

"I don't know where Ronaldo goes from here, does he go back (to) Italy, Spain I don't know where goes," he told Sky Sports. "I find it hard to see him at United unless something is done incredibly quickly.

"Then again, I don't know where he's going to go. I think United will be lost without him, I'm hoping he's going to be at United but I don't know why he would stay unless the new manager says 'right I'm spending £300m, these players are coming in, please stay' otherwise I think he's gone."
