Erik ten Hag to Man Utd: Donny van de Beek compilation shows he could be revitalised

You’ll struggle to find anyone that thinks Donny van de Beek hasn’t struggled since joining Manchester United in 2020.

Before being loaned out to Everton in January, Donny has played just 24 Premier League games in the 18 months he was with the Red Devils.

Fans thought that Donny’s fortunes would turn around when Ralf Rangnick came on, but that hasn’t been the case, and he’s also struggled to impress while playing for Frank Lampard’s Everton.

This week, news broke that Erik ten Hag is highly likely to become Man United manager next season, and no one will be happier to hear that news than Van de Beek.

ten Hag knows the 24-year-old well from when the pair worked together at Ajax, with Donny playing his best football under the Dutchman between 2017 and 2020.

And looking at compilations of how he played at Ajax, it’s safe to say that Donny still could have a future in Manchester.

Ahead of his move to Man United, BT Sport posted a video of Donny’s goals, passes and skills during his Champions League games with Ajax, and it’s safe that say that it makes for some impressive viewing.

Donny was particularly impressive for the Dutch Champions during their run in the Champions League in 2019, where they managed to get to the semi-final, before being bested by Tottenham.

The clip reminds fans just how technically sound Donny is, with an eye for a killer pass and for a goal, it’s clear he could still have a lot to offer.

With a reunion with his former manager seemingly on the horizon, it’s not out of the question to suggest that Donny future could still lie with Man United, despite his more-than-rocky start.
