Erik ten Hag to allow Man Utd starlet to leave on loan despite pre-season goal

Facundo Pellistri is set to leave Manchester United in on loan again to join a club in Italy or Spain.

The 20-year-old winger travelled with the squad for the pre-season tour of Asia and Australia, scoring in the 4-0 win over Liverpool in Bangkok.

Despite that bright cameo, Pellistri has not featured for Erik ten Hag’s side since, failing to come off the bench in subsequent wins over Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace in Australia.

ESPN now report Pellistri is preparing for another move away from Old Trafford for greater first-team opportunities.

The Uruguay international initially joined Spanish side Alaves on loan in the winter of 2021, making 12 appearances for the club.

He returned for a second spell last summer but failed to start a single La Liga game during the second half of the 2021-22 season. Pellistri is now keen to try his luck in a different league with Italy and Portugal his preferred destinations.

The winger has forced his way into the Uruguay first-team despite his lack of regular club football and is determined to keep his place ahead of this winter’s World Cup.

Jadon Sancho and Amad Diallo are United’s current options on the right of attack, with the former enjoying a superb pre-season campaign after an underwhelming first season back in England.

Diallo, who spent the second-half of last season on loan with Rangers, will also hope to figure in ten Hag’s plans but United legend Rio Ferdinand has suggested the youngster ‘isn’t ready’ for first-team action.

‘He went to Rangers, couldn’t really get into the team and affect their team, which tells you he’s not near getting into the Man United team,’ Ferdinand told Vibe with Five.
