Erik ten Hag's dream Manchester United line-up with four new signings in transfer window

You could forgive Manchester United's supporters for not even realising that the summer transfer window is officially open for business.

We are now almost two weeks into the window and United are yet to complete their first deal, in or out, with the release of their end-of-season retained list being the biggest highlight so far. Pre-season starts in less than a week's time and unless things change very quickly, which they can in the transfer window, Erik ten Hag is not expected to be joined by any new additions on his first day at Carrington.

United are in desperate need of adding fresh blood to the squad this summer and, as revealed by the Manchester Evening News , manager Ten Hag wants to bring in five new recruits by the time the window closes. There is plenty of time left to get those deals done but frustration among the fans is beginning to mount, particularly because of the business that has already been done by some of their rivals.

United want to strengthen several areas within the squad, not least in midfield, with Barcelona ace Frenkie de Jong and soon-to-be free agent Christian Eriksen among their leading targets. Ajax duo Jurrien Timber and Antony have also been placed on Ten Hag's wish list.

They would all strengthen different areas of the squad and be upgrades on their current options. With that in mind, MEN Sport has taken a close look at how United, who also want to source a back-up goalkeeper this summer, could line-up next season if they complete deals for the aforementioned quartet.
