Erik ten Hag praises new Manchester United partnership

Erik ten Hag is encouraged by the collaboration between Diogo Dalot and Jadon Sancho down Manchester United's right-hand side.

Dalot and Sancho retained their starting places in the 4-1 win over Melbourne Victory and Dalot's cross led to Anthony Martial's winner on the stroke of half-time.

Sancho scored against Liverpool in the 4-0 victory in Bangkok on Tuesday and played Dalot in to cross for Martial, having earlier fashioned a one-on-one opportunity for Bruno Fernandes at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Dalot is United's first-choice right-back ahead of the £50million Aaron Wan-Bissaka, whom the club have offered to clubs. Wan-Bissaka did not come on for Dalot when Ten Hag made 10 changes at half-time and Ethan Laird started the second-half at right-back.

United have won both of their matches under Ten Hag, scoring four goals in each, and he was pleased with their creativity from the right.

"Second game, totally different approach from the opponent," Ten Hag said. "They stand really back, really compact. We had to create by ourselves and that was from the left side not that easy, from the right side I was quite satisfied and we create a lot off the right side, four or five really good chances.

"We turned around the game, that was the good thing, when you go down, that you react, and we deal with the setback.

"Sure but I think the whole right side played really well because there's a good connection between Jadon Sancho and Diogo Dalot and also mixed in with Bruno, Martial and also McTominay.

"I'm very happy with that, but I'm sure when we go through the season we have to do even more and we have to improve in certain cases. We have to get a threat on both sides.
