Erik ten Hag might need untested Manchester United midfield vs Arsenal

Manchester United face long-standing Premier League rivals Arsenal in a Sunday showdown at the Emirates Stadium next Sunday afternoon (4.30pm) with several questions for Erik ten Hag to answer.

United may have earned three points at the weekend thanks to a comeback success over Nottingham Forest but it has been an underwhelming start to the season despite two wins from three. And Arsenal away will be an acid test for Ten Hag.

United did their main transfer business early this summer with Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund summoned to address three key problems within the squad. However, due to their early-campaign form and injuries suffered by Luke Shaw and Mount, there are plans to revisit the market.

Any move to bring in a left-back will be a shorter-term measure, but Ten Hag and his recruitment team also have their eye on another central midfielder. In the first instance what might be cover for Mount could, ultimately, be a threat to his spot in the starting XI.
