Erik Ten Hag leaves on private jet after emotional airport farewell following Man United sacking
Erik ten Hag bid farewell to Manchester with a warm embrace for an airport staff member after being relieved of his duties as Manchester United manager on Monday.
Following the team's disappointing 2-1 loss to West Ham at the London Stadium, Ten Hag was let go, leaving United in a dismal 14th position in the Premier League standings and bringing an end to his tumultuous two-and-a-half-year tenure with yet another defeat.
The club announced Ruud van Nistelrooy as the interim manager and released a statement saying: "Erik ten Hag has left his role as United men's first-team manager. Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024. We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future."
