After standing on the precipice of an utter meltdown after just his second match in charge, Erik ten Hag deserves immense credit for how he has turned around Manchester United's fortunes in the weeks since.

United are by no means the finished product. There remains an air of fragility to them and costly mistakes feel like they are lurking around the corner but the improvements have been significant. Ten Hag has taken brave steps to drop big personalities and every risk has paid off.

Over their four-match winning run, which has included victories over Liverpool and the previously undefeated Arsenal, United have looked much more comfortable at the back and have at times played some lovely, passing football but mostly they have grounded out wins even if performances haven't been the best.

Against the Gunners, United often moved the ball around really nicely. Their opening goal came from an 18-pass move, and they were unfortunate not to score from a passage of play with even more passes before it. United weren't the better team for the majority of the match but they were clinical, made better chances and were canny enough to strike a critical blow to their opponents when they opened up to press for a goal. This ruthlessness has been missing for some time but Ten Hag's new-look forward line looks to be bringing it back.
