Erik ten Hag held talks with Ryan Gravenberch over Manchester United transfer

Ryan Gravenberch has revealed Erik ten Hag spoke to him about the possibility of joining Manchester United this summer before he agreed to sign for Bayern Munich.

The 20-year-old's move to the Bundesliga champions is yet to be officially confirmed by either club, though the player himself has confirmed the impending transfer.

Gravenberch is set to move to Munich in a deal worth a reported €19million plus an additional €6m in add-ons, while Ajax are understood to have also insisted on a sell-on clause.

It looks like a bargain fee for the Dutch international, and it is understood former boss Ten Hag was well aware of the value for money he might have represented.

Gravenberch claims United made an approach to sign him this summer but he had already committed to the Bayern move when the contact was made.

"Manchester United is a very big and beautiful club. But I already had such a good feeling at Bayern and I had given my word," Gravenberch told De Telegraaf.

Gravenberch will be joined by Ajax teammate Noussair Mazraoui at Bayern and he says he can't wait to get started on the next chapter in his career.

He added: "I like that Nous goes there too. It's always nice when you already know someone. My mother will come to live with me. And my father will be here a lot to take care of all kinds of things, so that I can fully focus on football. I hope to find a house in the coming weeks. Otherwise, I will spend the first weeks in a hotel have to stay."
