Erik ten Hag has told Manchester United fans something about Harry Maguire and the captaincy
When Manchester United welcomed Bayern Munich to Old Trafford in the quarter-finals of the Champions League in April 2010, Wayne Rooney arrived at the stadium wearing a protective boot after spraining his ankle the week before.
Sir Alex Ferguson told the media a late call would be made on the fitness of Rooney and the Germans were buoyed when seeing him arrive in a protective boot, however, when the teams were confirmed, he was actually in the starting line-up.
That was not an error on the team sheet, merely a vintage act of kidology from Ferguson. The legendary 81-year-old was a master in mind games throughout his illustrious career and he pulled the wool over Bayern Munich's eyes that night.

Erik ten Hag recently dined with United legend Ferguson and some joked it was no coincidence he was commenting on referees shortly after that meeting. It might also not be a coincidence that Bruno Fernandes was passed fit to play Tottenham this week.
Fernandes sustained an ankle injury against Brighton in the semi-final of the FA Cup last weekend and the player's wife subsequently shared an image of him wearing a protective boot at home on social media.
The club have been coy about injuries in similar circumstances since the appointment of Ten Hag, but Fernandes shared the injury update regardless and just three days after the post, he made a recovery to start against Tottenham.
Ten Hag, speaking to MUTV, was asked about Fernandes ahead of kick-off and said: "Of course he's ready, it's Bruno Fernandes. He's tough, he takes responsibility, he wants to play and of course, we're happy he's there because he's a big player for us.
"He makes a big impact in
