Erik ten Hag has surprise defensive dilemma to solve in Manchester United vs Liverpool

Wan-Bissaka decision

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has a decision to make between Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot this weekend. The latter has been the first choice right back for over 18 months but Wan-Bissaka is enjoying a renaissance.

Although Wan-Bissaka was informed he could leave United at the end of last season and an exit felt inevitable, he's shown laudable character and a desire to improve, which has allowed him to force himself back into Ten Hag's plans.

The right-back played more minutes at Old Trafford in the last few weeks of the festive period than he did in the 11 months preceding that spell and he was preferred to start both legs against Barcelona in the Europa League.

Dalot, who has sometimes appeared vulnerable defensively, could not cope with Newcastle's Allan Saint-Maximin in the Carabao Cup final and yet Wan-Bissaka kept the tricky forward quiet when brought on to deal with the threat.

Liverpool have more talented attacking players than Newcastle and starting Wan-Bissaka is the logical choice.

Bellingham transfer statement

It's understood Erik ten Hag would endorse a move for Jude Bellingham if the Borussia Dortmund player was receptive to a switch to Old Trafford, although that's hardly a surprise given he's currently the most sought-after midfielder in Europe.

Bellingham is just 19 years old but he speaks with maturity beyond his years. He's also outstanding on the pitch, more importantly, and Dortmund have already braced themselves for his transfer away from the club this summer.

There are few clubs in Europe that can afford Bellingham and his wages and if not Real Madrid, his most likely destination in England
