Erik ten Hag has decisions to make on seven Manchester United players
The transfer window may not have gone to plan just yet but that doesn't mean Erik ten Hag hasn't refreshed and boosted his squad.
The new Manchester United manager has seen his squad take shape but it has been a gradual process. The additions of Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez all appear to be shrewd and certainly add technical quality to the group but it isn't enough. Not by a long shot.
Ten Hag also wants a forward, right-back, reserve goalkeeper and, of course, a new midfielder before the transfer window closes in less than a month's time. The top target is Frenkie de Jong but as United enter the third month of their chase there remains no light at the end of this monotonous tunnel.

So there is still plenty of work to do if United want to be competitive again. Despite all the change at Old Trafford this summer, the strongest XI isn't much different from the one that put in stinker after stinker last season, so we're bound to see just how much of a difference a proper coach can make.
Yet, even if United don't manage to bring in all the players they need this summer it won't be a disaster. They may not climb as high up the table as was hoped, but they should do just fine as Ten Hag has already improved his squad with a deft handling of the club's youngsters in pre-season.
