Erik ten Hag has already told Manchester United of goalkeeper demands amid David De Gea uncertainty
Manchester United are almost certain to enter the market for a goalkeeper this summer and Erik ten Hag would have big demands for any new arrival.
Uncertainty over the future of David De Gea has put a new shot-stopper much higher up United's summer shopping list, with the 32-year-old in the final weeks of his contract. Talk of a new deal has been ongoing for some time, but a lack of progress in agreeing a pay cut from his current £375,000-per-week wages has only muddied the water further.
MEN Sport understands that senior figures within the club want to 'move on' from the Spaniard, calling time on a 12-year spell at Old Trafford. And as such, a new first-choice goalkeeper is looking increasingly likely.
De Gea has often come under the spotlight for his struggles in possession, and one of the key strengths of any new addition between the posts will be in playing out from the back. Ten Hag has had to find a compromise with his first-choice this year, but the Dutchman will not sanction a major signing who does not meet his demands.

The United boss has previously spoken about those demands, and his desire for his goalkeepers to be capable of playing out from the back.
"It's not what I want [top footwork], it's more what top football demands nowadays," Ten Hag said back in May when asked if being good on the ball is important for a modern goalkeeper. "If you observe teams, you have to be capable of playing from the back and use your keeper as a plus one.
"Otherwise it's simple for opponents to put you under pressure. He [De Gea] had to step up. In a number of games, he showed progression."
