Erik ten Hag gives Manchester United transfer update as Christian Eriksen sends message to fans

Erik ten Hag has said Manchester United are preparing for the second phase of their squad rebuild.

United spent a record £225.4million on five signings in the summer but Ten Hag suggested last month the club would be open to strengthening the squad in the January transfer window.

United are expected to target a forward next summer and could move for a long-term goalkeeper, depending on David de Gea's future now he is into the last year of his contract. United have the option of an additional year to tie De Gea to the club until 2024.

When asked if the summer would ultimately be the priority period for reinforcements, Ten Hag replied: "I was already aware (of the financial results) but the conclusion that I only look for is buys. But what you have to prepare is what can happen.

Christian Eriksen has sent a message to the Manchester United fans after being awarded the club's player of the month award for September.

Last month was positive for both Eriksen and United as the new signing continues to impress in the Premier League after arriving on a free transfer. After shining in the wins over Leicester City and Arsenal, the 30-year-old scooped the fan-chosen award.
