Erik ten Hag says he has been impressed with the progress Manchester United have made in pre-season as he gears up for his first season in charge of the club.

United began their summer schedule with a thumping 4-0 win over Liverpool in Thailand, before they went on to beat both Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace in Melbourne.

Ten Hag's side completed their first leg of the tour with a 2-2 draw against Aston Villa on Saturday and will take to the field twice next weekend before their season starts against Brighton the following week.

Bruno Fernandes and Fred have taken to social media to share their reactions after United were made to settle for a draw against Aston Villa, despite taking a 2-0 lead.

After clocking up wins over Liverpool, Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace in their previous three games, United made the trip to Perth for their final outing in Australia - but a pitch inspection was needed to ensure the Villa meeting went ahead.

Ten Hag addressed his own issues with the surface when speaking before stepping into the dugout and those comments were vindicated when players from both teams struggled with their footing early doors. However, they did eventually manage to get to grips with the challenge.
