Erik ten Hag could miss out on Man Utd targets with possible transfer budget revealed

Harry Kane and Declan Rice are among Erik ten Hag’s list of transfer targets but Manchester United could have as little as £20million to spend this summer if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

United have identified Harry Kane and Benfica starlet Darwin Nunez as possible options up front this summer with Rice, Kalvin Phillips, Ruben Neves, Yves Bissouma and Aurelien Tchouameni among their options to strengthen in midfield.

However, according to the Daily Mail, ten Hag’s hopes to rebuild the squad this summer could be limited by a meagre transfer budget.

The report claims United have informed agents that a failure to qualify for the Champions League could result in the budget being slashed to just £20million – placing almost all of those targets out of the reach of ten Hag.

United have won just one of their last five Premier League matches and have slipped to seventh in the table.
