Erik ten Hag could be about to get a solution to Manchester United's problem position

Manchester United have a whole lot more than 99 problems and the right side of the pitch is just one.

It's not quite as catchy as the original but from A-Z United have a litany of issues, Macro to the micro, off the pitch, on the pitch and everything in between. All the deep-seated problems Erik ten Hag seemingly weeded out in a promising first campaign have far tougher roots than they might have appeared.

The Dutchman's first season was far from smooth sailing but it looked as though he had finally navigated United out of the stormy seas and into smoother tides. But you never can predict the waves.

All the optimism and progress made has now been washed away and dashed against the rocks. To the point that serious questions are being asked about Ten Hag's position. United want to be patient with their managers and they have backed him so faithfully in recruitment that swapping now might lead to even worse results.
