Erik ten Hag breaks Manchester United record as David de Gea secures key award with Wolves win

Manchester United beat Wolves 2-0 at Old Trafford to solidify their place in the Premier League top four and move closer to being back in the Champions League.

United are seeking to confirm qualification for next season's Champions League and they took another step towards securing that with the three points against the West Midlands side. Anthony Martial put United ahead in the first half after being found in the box by Antony.

United eventually put the result beyond doubt in second half injury time. Bruno Fernandes slipped in substitute Alejandro Garnacho and the teenager fired home off the post to secure the points for Erik ten Hag's side.

United now have a gap of four points to Liverpool, who sit in fifth. They remain fourth but are level on points with Newcastle United, with the Magpies above them in the table owing to a superior goal difference.

Not only did the victory mean United moved closer to being back in Europe's top club competition next season, but also ensured awards for two big figures at Old Trafford. These concern Ten Hag and goalkeeper David de Gea.

The win ensured that Ten Hag now boasts the most victories of any United boss in their debut season in charge of the club. The victory was United's 39th win in all competitions this campaign, including the FA Cup semi-final win on penalties over Brighton & Hove Albion on penalties, with United winning 20 games in the Premier League this season.

And for De Gea, he is now guaranteed to at least share the Premier League Golden Glove this season. His clean sheet against Wolves was his 16th so far in the Premier League this campaign.
