Eric Bailly explains the impact Manchester United's 4-1 defeat to Watford had on their season

Eric Bailly says Manchester United are using their dismal defeat to Watford back in November as "motivation" ahead of the Hornets' trip to Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's final game as United manager saw his side suffer a thumping 4-1 defeat at Vicarage Road earlier this season.

United have since regrouped and are now well in the race for a spot in next season's Champions League as they look to maintain their place in the top four with a win over the relegation-threatened side.

The dramatic win over Leeds United provided a much-needed boost in their quest for a place in the top four but Arsenal's win in midweek clawed them to within a point of Ralf Rangnick's men.

"Everybody remembers that Watford won against us and that gives us a good motive to try and improve, win this game and take three points," Bailly said speaking to United Review.

"We do not have an easy game in this league. All the teams in the league are fighting for something, some to stay in the division, but our fight is to reach the top four in the league.

"That is good because it is important to take every point that’s possible. Now against Watford, I think if we do what we do in training we can win this game for sure.

"The most important thing is to focus and to win the game. To keep winning is very important. In March, we have many games and lots of important ones."

The Ivorian has recently recovered from an ankle injury suffered during his time at the Africa Cup of Nations and is now back in contention.
