Enzo Maresca interviewed by Leicester City as Celtic next manager option moves closer to succeeding Brendan Rodgers

Enzo Maresca has been interviewed by Leicester City about their vacant manager’s position as he remains second favourite for the Celtic job.

The Italian spoke to Foxes chiefs about becoming the permanent successor to Brendan Rodgers, now the overwhelming favourite for the Parkhead hotseat, at the King Power Stadium. Maresca was interviewed just hours after helping Manchester City create history as assistant to Pep Guardiola, winning the Champions League on Saturday to complete a Treble.

Leicester City are speaking to candidates as they continue to weight up whether to appoint a new boss or make interim gaffer and former Aston Villa and Norwich City boss Dean Smith their manager. Maresca rejected an approach from Southampton but appears keen on the Leicester City, while the Celtic links continue. The 43-year-old has only been a manager in his own right at one club when he left the job as Manchester City Under-23 boss to take over Parma in Serie B.

However, that proved to be short-lived as he won just four games before he was ultimately sacked and returned to the Etihad in a promoted role. He is keen to go it alone again and Leicester City now looks his more likely destination.
