Entire 25-bed country estate goes on sale for just £150,000

If you've ever dreamed of owning a grand estate, then now could be your chance. A huge 25-bedroom country mansion has come on the property market with a £150,000 price tag - that's less than a semi-detached house.

The stunning home is the Grade II-listed Otterburn Hall in Northumberland, which was built back in 1870. It used to be a luxury four-star hotel and wedding venue, considered as 'one of the North East’s most opulent venues', before it closed in 2012.

The expansive estate spans 25,000 square foot and sits within a national park in an area of outstanding beauty - boasting 16 acres of woodland, lawns, a fishing lake and even a river.

However, as tempting as the property is for such a bargain price - it comes with a catch. Potential buyers need to be aware that the once-grand hall is now in desperate need of repair, so you'll have a major renovation on your hands.

Pictures show how the 154-year-old building is currently in a derelict state, with smashed windows, graffitied walls and bare ceilings and floors. There are also some features left over from the former luxury hotel - from a grand piano on three legs to a discarded toilet.

Auction Estates have described the Neo-Elizabethan style county house as an “ideal opportunity for a developer or investor”. The listing reads: "Suitable for a variety of uses, the hall is situated one mile from the historic village of Otterburn.

"Local shops and amenities are available nearby and the Hall is part of Northumberland National Park. The hall is in need of a full refurbishment. The property has undergone asbestos removal treatment and is ideal opportunity for developer/investor."
