England players singing 'God Save The Queen' at Euro '96 is spine-tingling
Footage of England players belting out ‘God Save The Queen’ before the Euro 1996 semi-final is going viral following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday afternoon.
England faced Germany at Wembley in the semi-final back in ’96 but, before the match, the players – and the entire stadium gave a spine-tingling rendition of the national anthem.
Of course, the inevitable happened and England went on to lose to Germany on penalties but that incredible anthem is still remembered 26 years on.
The likes of Gareth Southgate, Stuart Pearce and captain Tony Adams are literally shouting the anthem with their chests as the 82,000 people inside Wembley join in.
Imagine being there.
