England hopefuls Dawid Malan and Harry Brook hit centuries for Yorkshire against Kent on day two in County Championship

Ten players have now scored County Championship hundreds against Kent this month.

England hopefuls Dawid Malan and Harry Brook added their names to the likes of Sir Alastair Cook, James Vince and Dane Vilas after reaching three figures at Headingley.

It put hosts Yorkshire in charge against Kent as they closed the day on 326-5, a lead of 35 after Kent were bowled out for 291 in the opening half-hour on Friday in their LV= Insurance County Championship clash.

Kent resumed on 270-6 but Haris Rauf completed career-best figures of 5-65 by taking two more victims.

Rauf had Grant Stewart caught behind six balls into the day, Jordan Thompson trapped Matt Milnes lbw for seven and Rauf yorked Nathan Gilchrist for another duck.

Matt Quinn was bowled by Thompson (2-61) for four to wrap up the Kent innings, nine runs short of an additional bonus batting point.

Kent responded positively, however, by bowling 15 maidens in the opening 22 overs of Yorkshire's reply. That pressure helped reduce them to 23-3 in the 22nd over.

Stewart took the new ball from the Howard Stand End and bowled six successive maidens before being replaced by Gilchrist, who claimed two of the first three wickets.

He had Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne (4) caught behind following a loose drive and George Hill lbw as he shouldered arms.

It got even better for Kent with the first ball after lunch when Adam Lyth nudged Milnes behind down the leg side.

Play was halted for approximately 40 minutes from just before 2.20pm due to a medical emergency in the ground’s North East Corner, though the spectator was thankfully responsive when stretchered away. Ten overs were lost.
